Key Performance Areas:
Overall Responsibility for Managing the Crane Workshop Department:
- Conduct bi-annual performance appraisals for each staff member.
- Compile and submit payroll information promptly.
- Hold monthly departmental meetings.
- Achieve employee morale survey targets.
- Manage leave and absenteeism.
- Implement and drive ISO and ASEC Standards in line with company strategic objectives.
- Ensure effective interdepartmental and internal communication.
Sound Management of the Crane Workshop:
- Align workshop operations with budget and company strategic objectives.
- Oversee work in progress, scheduling, quality, quote accuracy, and profitability.
- Ensure quality customer service with optimal response times and professionalism through technician evaluations and training needs.
Communication and Feedback:
- Provide regular updates to department staff on company news, market trends, and other relevant information.
Financial Assistance and Strategy:
- Assist in resolving debtor disputes and aid in cash collections.
- Meet growth and market share increase objectives.
- Analyze, prepare, and implement strategies to target and convert new business accounts, including cold calling potential clients.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Ensure administrative procedures are correctly followed.
- Perform administrative duties accurately and promptly.
- Maintain customer records and quote registers.
Reporting and Housekeeping:
- Prepare and present reports as required.
- Promote and maintain good housekeeping best practices.
- Conduct monthly ASEC audits for scorecard evaluations.
Operational Efficiency:
- Submit daily timesheets and job cards promptly after completion.
- Report on outstanding work in progress and labor recoveries against set targets.
- Manage and reduce excess overtime.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Education, Training, and Experience:
- Grade 12 or N3
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Business Management, Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical qualification or Trade certificate required.
- A minimum of 5 years of proven and relevant experience in a management or team leader role within a material lifting industry, construction, automotive or similar industry.
- Code 8 driver's license
