Reference: PTA000036-AS-1 Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience Housing (4 bedroom house) Vehicle for work related purposes A Well-established firm within the meat industry has an opportunity for an experienced and passionate Abattoir Manager to join their team in Roedtan, Limpopo. Housing options in Roedtan, Naboom or Potgietersrus area. Job Overview: As an Abattoir Manager specializing in ostrich processing, you will oversee the operations of the ostrich abattoir, ensuring efficient and humane processing of ostriches according to industry standards and regulations. Your role encompasses managing staff, maintaining equipment, and ensuring product quality and safety. Minimum requirements: Must have Blockman experience and/or qualifications and/or food science, animal science or related fields Previous experience in meat processing or abattoir management, preferably with experience in ostrich and/or Venison, Game processing familiarity with ostrich anatomy, handling, and processing techniques would be highly advantageous Passion to work with meat and to play with different spices and cuts Exceptional Management skills HACCP training will be highly advantage Duties will include but are not limited to: Operations Manager: Supervising all aspects of the abattoir operations, including slaughter, processing and packaging. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food safety and sanitation standards Monitor and optimize production processes to maximize efficiency and minimize waste Oversee the maintenance end repair of equipment to ensure smooth operation Staff Management: Schedule shifts and allocate tasks to ensure adequate staffing levels and efficient workflow. Manage over 40 staff Excellent communication and ability to work on all levels Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the consistent quality of ostrich meat products. Conduct regular inspections of the facility and processed to identify and address any issues affecting product quality. Inventory and Supply Chain Management: Manage inventory levels of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and ingredients Please note only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
