Our client in the informal market/FMCG Industry is currently in search for four (4) Area Sales Managers , to manage their own divisions and teams of Field Sales Managers (indirect reports of Sales Representatives). This is a nationwide recruitment focused on the main hubs, Gauteng, Limpopo and KZN, with specific areas to be confirmed. URGERNT VACANCY AREA: East Rand, Johannesburg, Gauteng JOB DESCRIPTION OF AREA SALES MANAGER Database management Build and maintain a database of licensed outlets to be serviced by team of Sales Reprisentatives and Filed Manager in the allocated region as per set target. Recruitment of sales team Recruit a team of Sales Representatives and Filed Managers; ensure that vacancies are filled as per targeted timelines. Call cycle management Ensure that team visits outlets on daily basis and routes are followed in an efficient manner that saves time and productive. Budget implementation and adherence Communicate various budgets (petrol, travelling, accommodation) and ensure that teams do not exceed their budgets. Ensure all Sales Representatives remain within their allocated daily KM budget and report back to business on budget. Communicate discrepancies to ensure full productivity of the team. Implementation of Principal Client's objectives Attend weekly meetings with Principal Client's management to ensure alignment and execute Principal Client's regional objectives as per Company guidelines. Maintain relationship with Principal Client's counterparts and drive divisional objectives. Escalate RTMP (Supplier) pricing and availability gaps to Principal Client's managers. Implementation and achievement of KPIs Track and drive set KPIs and ensure that targets are achieved weekly, monthly and quarterly basis Provide feedback and trade insights on KPI's achieved. Initiate plans and proposal to resolves challenges and issues affecting delivery of the results. Coaching and leadership Lead and coach the teams in the allocated region to achieve the set objectives. Develop the team through training initiatives (infield training, job shadowing and benchmarking) to develop capabilities across the region. Distribution Services Ensure Sales Representatives have an allocated RTMP to pull stock from. Ensure Sales Representatives have the necessary Distribution Service compliance documents. Drive sales area to achieve volume target. Ensure RTMP accounts are cleared once per cycle. Outlet and sales information capturing integrity Ensure that teams capture and record all the sales and outlet information onto the allocated device or tool in all the allocated outlets on every visit as per schedule or cycle. Verify captured information against the information on outlets, using reports to ensure integrity of the information. Tooling and resourcing of teams Ensure that teams are fully resourced to execute their jobs: Cars are well maintained and functional. Cell phones and systems are working. Stationery, Tools of Trade and POS is allocated on weekly basis. Full asset management and responsibility Manage and account full regional asset base (cars, phones and coolers); and ensure that processes are followed and adhered to the teams as per policy and guideline. Manage divisional budgets and operational costs. Reporting and feedback Report daily, weekly and monthly as per the communicated requirements both to the teams as well as back office. Policies and Processes implementation Ensure that all Company polices, and processes are implemented and adhered to by the team Initiation of corrective action to address deviation. IR Functions (Facilitation of counselling session, issuing basic warnings, Initiate performance management and initiate disciplinary hearings). Ways of working for an Area Sales Manager Mondays: 08:00 – 11:00 tend to administration and correlate activities between the sales team and back office Functions to be completed: Divisional Sales Area KPI analysis with action plan to be reported to Regional Sales Manager with action plan (for the previous week). Administrative functions (IR Discussion and admin to be submitted to back office). Preparation of the weekly team meetings with the Field Manager with action plan and gaplist per Sales Representatives 14:30 – 17:00 Area Sales Manager to partake in Principal Client management Call over. Tuesdays to Fridays: 08:00 – 11:00 tend to administration and correlate activities between the sales team and back office Functions to be completed: Administrative functions (IR Discussion and admin to be submitted to back office). GAP Analysis (All Key Performance Indicators to be analysed with an action plan). Cooler Verification gap list and ad hoc duties. 12:00 – 17:00 Go to trade as per Principal Client's divisional Plan: 1st week: Focus on a specific territory (Fridays allocated towards gap list activities in trade). 2nd week: Focus on remaining territory (Fridays allocated towards gap list activities in trade). Important to note that allocation of these weeks will be as per operational standards and Area Sales Manager concerns pertaining to certain areas. Visit within the territory will be done with a Field Manager and Sales Representatives (5 Calls to be completed on a daily basis). These visits will be seen as Coaching sessions in full alignment with the coaching steps. Saturdays: 09:00 – 14:00 In trade with Sales Representatives for 2 Saturdays per month. Ad hoc duties for an Area Sales Manager: Monitor RTMP activations taking place within the area. Initiate disciplinary measures or performance discussions. Attend cycle brief meetings every quarter. Act as a support function within the area for asset maintenance and allocation. Grade 12 Matric (Minimum) Higher education (sales/management related) - beneficial Valid South African Driver's Lisence 3-4 years sales and merchandising experience in a related FMCG environment 2 years minimum in management Proficient with MS Office suite Power BI experience - beneficial To be discussed in interview Apply Now
