Customs Clerk - Durban

Our client is looking for a customs clerk to join their friendly team in Durban. The successful incumbent will be responsible for administrative function in the Bonds Department working with custom entries and ensuring efficient bond control. Minimum Requirements: Matric or Equivalent Relevant qualification would be advantageous. Previous experience as a customs clerk is essential. Good understanding of the law and regulations surrounding customs clearance requirements. Experience of using customs software is essential together with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent time management. Communicate within the team and contribute to the overall success of the team. Service delivery and customer focused. Professional with excellent business acumen. Ability to work in a pressurized and highly deadline driven operating environment. Willingness to work additional hours. Key Performance Areas: Framing of various customs entries, for imports and exports on ACS Ensure bond registers are updated and that all information entered in the registers are accurate. Submit acquittals to customs monthly. Ensure customs documents/ entries are filed correctly, so it is easily accessible when asked for by SARS. Ensure all returns from vessel {bonded} are put back into the bond warehouse and are entered into the bond register. Ensure bond register, stock, and stock card tally at all times. Ensure all rules and regulations of SARS are compliant and always adhered to avoid any penalties. Perform general office duties. Processing of supporting documentation for accounts department. Other ad hoc duties as and when requested by the Manager. Zae Chetty
