Cutting Polishing Supervisor - South Africa
Job Overview The Processing Supervisor is responsible for monitoring processing operations, quality, and smooth running of processing processes and ensuring that operators and assistants work as a team. He/she needs to supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in processing of glass as per the works order specifications. He/she is responsible for continuous feedback and reporting to the Factory Manager on works order progress. He/she is responsible for effective planning and efficient utilization of resources of the division. This is a 6 months contract going into Perm. Strictly requires a white male NOT above the age of 30 Responsibilities and Duties Communicates effectively with factory and office staff Effective planning of cutting and polishing processes Ensuring breakages and remakes are limited Ensuring that Operators maintain their machines Housekeeping and cleanliness around the cutting and polishing areas Effective supervision of operators and assistants to ensure that the machines are used optimally Disciplinary counselling if direct reports do not adhere to rules and policies/procedures Other duties may be assigned. Communicates regularly with management and support functions. Ensures on-time delivery. Accurate and timely backorder reporting Ensuring that all glass are checked for quality before moving to the next process Knowledge and Understanding Planning Effective works order scheduling Value systems and culture Strong interpersonal skills Customer/Service orientation Attention to detail. Working as part of a team Reliable and Responsible Prioritizing Use Initiative Professional presentation of self Competencies To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: Analytical, Problem Solving, Interpersonal Skills, Oral Communication, Written Communication, Teamwork, Ethics, Motivation, Quality, Safety and Security, Adaptability, Attendance/Punctuality, Dependability, and Initiative Education and/or Experience (Minimum requirements) Grade 12 (Matric) Previous Glass cutting/polishing experience advantageous Knowledge of glass and the handling thereof important General mathematical skills essential Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
