Candidates required must be available immediately Position: Diesel MechanicLocation: Johannesburg (Gauteng)Employment Type: Contract (6 Months)Department: MaintenancePurpose of the Role: Perform repair & maintenance activities Maintenance of tools & equipment Comply with Health, Safety and Environment policies Risk management Minimum Qualifications Minimum Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic Minimum of 5 years’ experience with Trucks Driver License Must be available Immediately Technical Competencies: Drive for Results Adaptability Interpersonal Skills and Communication Innovation and Continuous Improvement Planning & Organizing Solution Generation and Decision Making Reliability Self-Commitment and Motivation Self-Development Customer Focus Functional Expertise Technical Knowledge Required: Knowledge on diesel and petrol engines Knowledge on repairing /overhauling engine and gearbox Read manuals and diagrams Knowledge on scanner tools Knowledge on tires repair Knowledge on hydraulic system Knowledge on break and suspension repair Overview of electrical Roles and Responsibilities: Perform vehicle inspection, as per planned preventive maintenance schedule and foreman instructions, listing related findings on check list. Change oil, filters and water of vehicles and performs other maintenance related repairs. Replace spare parts as per check list and as instructed by the Automotive Maintenance Senior Technicians and Automotive Maintenance Foreman. Replace spare parts as per corrective maintenance activities and needs, as instructed by the superiors. Requests spare part as per supervisor’s approval Perform necessary repairs or replace or installs spare parts further to vehicle breakdowns, as per work order and detected malfunctions, providing feedback to the supervisor Perform repairs on the operations field, as per request Reports detected abuse on vehicle to the supervisor Perform welding, painting and denting activities on vehicle cabin and superstructure Properly handle and maintains all tools and equipment, keep them in a clean and working condition Operate hand and power tools Exercise due diligence towards health and safety of self and others in the organisation Comply with the applicable HSE procedures, instructions, requirements, standards received from regulatory and statutory bodies Proactively report superior occurrences, events, violations and acts that may impact employee health, safety or environment Analyse current risks and identify potential risks in the area of responsibility Report the risk tailored to the relevant audience Build risk awareness amongst team by providing support and training R 20 000 - R 25 000
