Factory Manager - Centurion

Job Purpose

To plan production schedules and ensure that the production process is carried out within budget and on time.
To oversee the production process end-to-end and ensure that end products always meet quality standards.
To supervise factory workers and ensure that factory operations run smoothly and comply with health & safety regulations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Monitoring and maintaining high housekeeping standards to ensure adherence to all health & safety regulations and to minimise wastage.
  • Collaborating with management to establish and execute quality control processes.
  • Ensuring factory machinery and equipment is kept secure and in good working order.
  • Analysing production outcomes to identify and resolve production issues pro-actively.
  • Preparing production reports and documents and submitting same to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Regularly and randomly inspecting finished work to determine whether they meet established quality standards.
  • Monitoring and controlling stock of all raw materials and ensure adequate levels are always maintained.
  • Monitoring, controlling and motivating factory workers to continually achieve factory targets.
  • Recruiting suitably qualified factory workers and ensuring adequate training and induction of newly recruited staff.
  • Effectively managing the timekeeping, attendance, performance, and development of staff to drive and maximize
  • Manage any employee relations issues which may arise, including the counselling, discipline, and grievance processes, within the framework of applicable labour legislation and company policies and/or refer to Senior Management where appropriate.
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Minimum Matric or equivalent level technical qualification.
  • Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Certificate in production and inventory management as well as quality control.
  • Sound knowledge of industry-specific factory equipment.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Meticulous with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and effectively manage several projects and complex situations simultaneously.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to drive and motivate performance through effective coaching skills.
  • Highly organised with the ability to adapt quickly to strategic change.
  • Flexible, resilient, and able to work effectively within a fast-moving environment.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, guiding people, and analyzing information.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work unsupervised, and manage own time and activities and those of others.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
