Fitter and Turner - Randburg
Red Seal Fitter & Turner with experience on the Turning side. Set up machines at the beginning of shift to ensure proper working order Perform testing procedures to ensure that machines work optimally during the production procedures Calibrate machines at the beginning of each shift and or job Monitor machines during every procedure to ensure optimum running Troubleshoot problems during machine operation Perform random tests to ensure accuracy on your machining work and record measurements accordingly Perform safety checks on every machine Ensure that machines are producing quality products by managing periodic checks on output Conduct test ensure that parts meet specifications; make adjustments as necessary. Cut, shape, steel to specified lengths or shapes, using conventional or cnc machinery Interpretate drawings and ensure that the components made adhere to drawings requirements File, grind, shim, turn, torque, manufacture and assemble parts to manufacture and or repair, conveyor pulleys. Inspect finished components for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects. Lift, position, and secure machined parts on surface plates or worktables, using hoists, vices, v-blocks, or angle plates. Measure, mark, and scribe metal or plastic stock to lay out machining, using instruments such as protractors, micrometres, scribes, and rulers. Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes. Set up and operate drill presses to drill and tap holes in parts for assembly. Smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools, using scrapers, abrasive stones, files, emery cloths, or power grinders. Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies. Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as callipers, gauge blocks, micrometres, and dial indicators. Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications Design jigs, fixtures, and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of parts or products Ensuring that the specific work instructions of the operation he/she is working at (as directed by Management) is followed correctly and timelessly. That he/she follows all company policies and procedures Shall be responsible for the quality and accuracy of his/her work Ensure that staff in in your section work according to your and the production managers instructions Ensure that the employees under you work efficiently Ensure that the staff ‘s quality of work meets specifications
