Forklift Operator (Warehouse) - South Africa
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Manoeuvring forklifts safely in busy industrial environments • Safely loading and unloading trucks • Moving goods from storage areas to loading areas for transport • Identifying damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies • Ensuring that forklift driving areas are free from spills or obstructions. • Regularly checking forklift equipment for faults or damages • Using industrial plastic wraps and wooden pallets to safely stack and package goods for transport. • Keeping up to date on health and safety requirements and forklift operating procedures • Consolidating partial pallets for incoming goods QUALIFICATION REQUIRED: & SKILLS ACADEMIC / OTHER QUALIFICATION • Matric • Valid certification to operate forklifts • Excellent Communication skills (Verbal and written) EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING • Proven experience as forklift operator • Knowledge of SQAS would be advantageous • Previous warehouse experience • Hazardous materials training, as needed. ABILITIES • Use own initiative • Ability to read and understand packaging, shipping documents, and safety guidelines. • Efficient individual with excellent time management skills. • Ability to work under pressure • Work with minimum or no supervision • Team player • Ability to work long hours and weekends when required • Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment Own transport is required
