Responsible for the overseeing of Health & Safety systems on various clients’ sites and projects as well as the facilitation of training initiatives. Job Grading Experience & Qualifications Required Safety Consultant 5 – 8 Year Experience HSE Diploma/Equivalent At least 20 Short Courses Registration with a Professional Body - SACPCMP Key Performance Indicators (KPI) KPI Weighting 1. Additional services - Sales 10% Physiological Requirements Physical Appearance Driving 20% Wear ALVA uniform or similar types of jackets and shirts Sitting 20% PPE to be worn always when visiting a client’s site Walking 40% No shorts, flip-flops, T-shirts, hoodies or caps other than provided by ALVA Group Standing 20% Hair and facial hair to be always kept clean and neat Job Summary - HSE consultation with new and existing clients, including working heights, workshops and installations - Weekly progress meetings with client, engineers and contractors on site in applicable areas. - Auditing of safety files to ensure legal compliance is in order. - Weekly reports to be done and submitted to Management. - Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the health and safety management plan, specific to projects or clients requirements. - Communicate with the local Department of Labour during inspections. - Conducting and Coordinating of Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Safe Work Procedures and relevant documentation required by the client. - Ensure that compliance to the plan specific requirements of audits and surveillance is carried out. - Responsible for determining health and safety training requirements and record keeping. - Maintain accurate site statics on manpower, safety and environmental requirements. - Support and guide site supervision in their daily duties and ensuring full compliance to task hazards and work assessments. - Facilitation of training as qualified trainer for products and services supplied by ALVA Group - Participate in weekly meetings by addressing the necessary statistics and other matters in the health and safety portion of the meeting. - Lead by Example to be the standard on site, for example: wearing the correct PPE. - Manage installation projects through safety file approval, client liaison and project implementation on site, handover of project after completion, management of sub-contractors performing installations, etc. during the project. - Ability to Conduct induction training and Toolbox Talks. - Verify suitability of Contractors’ H&S plans, and monitor compliance - Analyse and report on H&S performance and advice on appropriate action. - Conduct investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses. - Check conformance of construction plant to statutory requirements and regulations. - Organize and implement awareness campaigns. - Travel to remote sites as required by the client - Comply with client’s expectations and requirements. Minimum Requirements - At least 2 years’ experience as a South African Health and Safety Officer in the construction industry. - SAMTRAC / Equivalent. - Incident Investigation. - Fall Protection Planner (Including US229998 US229995 and US229994). - Competent installer of both HLL and VLL as per OEM (KARAM Africa) - Legal Liability. - HIRA. - SACPCMP Registered as a Safety Officer - First aid Level 1. - Basic Fire Fighting. - Computer Literate. - Valid drivers license No complaints to be expected 1. KPI: Client Satisfaction Weight: 20 % - Client Complaints and Commendations - No complaints to be expected - Client References - Clients to show satisfaction by giving references and indicating satisfaction with service delivery 2. KPI: Profit/Loss Weight: 20 % - Cost to Company and profit - Fixed - There should be no excessive expenses required by the employee during the period employment 3. KPI: Appearance & Punctuality Weight: 20 % - Physical Appearance - In accordance with the company’s policy - Personal Protection Equipment - Always wearing appropriate PPE and ensure that it is kept in good condition - Punctuality - On time and present on site (site times apply) 4. KPI: Administration & Report Writing Weight: 20 % - Communication - Emails and phone calls to clients, management or colleagues to be kept professional and appropriate - Reports - Reports must be up to date and send to client within an agreed upon time frame. Incident reports are to be submitted by COB of same day. 5. KPI: Skills Development & Professional Registrations Weight: 20 % - SACPCMP Registration - You are responsible to maintain your professional registrations as prerequisite to this position - Without this registration, you are no longer eligible for this position and this may result in immediate dismissal - CPD points - It is your responsibility to earn all relevant CPD points to maintain your professional registrations and affiliations - Qualifications - You are responsible to inform the company of any qualification that are about to expire 6. KPI: Additional services - Sales Weight: 10% - Additional sales - You are responsible to market additional services offered by the company.
