Junior Rock Engineer - South Africa

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
To make observations and measurements and to collect data about rock conditions/ rock mechanics of the workplace to enable interpretation
and recommendations to the mining department. To conduct strength and compression test analysis for strata control purposes. To compile,
implement and review risk assessments and procedures and COPs (rock related). Assist rock engineer in performing tasks, live the company values, which includes but not limited to:
Strata control inspections
Incident investigation
Rock engineering input
Geotechnical data
Slope stability analysis
Radar monitoring
Limit blast quality assurance/ quality control
Mining control of special areas
Compile, implement and review risk assessments and procedures
Continuous improvement
Rock engineering software and numerical modelling
Internal and external stakeholder relationships
SHERQ adherence and compliance
Work Ethics
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science/ B Tech in Rock Engineering / Geology / Mining (NQF level 7)
Rock Mechanics certificate (At least two papers)
National Certificate in Strata Control (Accredited by Chamber of Mines) NQF level 3
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three (3) years operational strata control experience in an opencast mining environment
Minimum of five (5) years operational strata control experience in a mining environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Computer literacy
MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint (basic user)
Risk management discipline( Functional) specific software /Tools (Basic user)
Discipline specific software and tools (basic user of MicroStation, DatamineMap3D, D Block etc. or equivalent)
Rock science suite, Flac and other relevant software and digital interfaces
Functional
Rock Engineer, Mining and MRM Business processes, Mine health System Act, Explosive Act,( other legal) Hazard identification and risk assessment skills National water Act (other Legal) functional understanding of IWULA Waste Management and Environmental Monitoring requirements
