Lecturer: Diploma in Network Design and Administration - Stellenbosch

Job Summary We have a vacancy at the Stellenbosch campus for a lecturer in IT Network Design and Administration Duties & Responsibilities Lecturing: Planning and managing of weekly classes Preparation and delivery of learning content (In a contact and online learning environment) Develop learning material (including assessment tools) if required Organize additional workshops and field trips when required. Mark assessments for learners and provides feedback to learners within the stipulated marking and moderation cycle deadlines as per the National Assessment Schedule. General academic administration: Record student attendance Identify students at risk Set up additional support for students, when required Record student results Participates at campus staff meetings to sort out logistical issues and get updates on academic development, orientation issues, new teaching and learning techniques for learners Attends open days to share module and programme information with prospective learners and parents Skills Expertise in IT Network Design: A strong understanding of network architecture, protocols, topologies, security, and optimization is crucial. Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in relevant networking technologies and tools Problem-Solving: The ability to analyze complex networking issues, troubleshoot problems, and develop effective solutions is essential. Teaching and Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication is vital. Interpersonal Skills: Building positive relationships with students, colleagues, and industry professionals. Adaptability: You should be open to learning and adapting to new technologies, trends, and methodologies to keep your lectures current and relevant. Industry Experience: Practical experience in IT network design and implementation is invaluable. Research Skills: Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in networking and related technologies through continuous learning and research. Certifications: Relevant industry certifications Time Management: Balancing lecture preparation, grading, student interactions, and your own professional development requires strong time management skills. Collaboration: Working with other faculty members, department heads, and administrators to coordinate course content and ensure a cohesive educational experience for students. Experience & Qualifications Required o Minimum NQF-7 Qualification in Networking or other relevant qualification o Microsoft and Cisco certificates will be an advantage o Previous experience in facilitating will be an advantage o Extensive knowledge of Computer systems o Extensive knowledge of Databases o Extensive knowledge of Networks Apply Now
