A MBchB qualification and registration with the HPCSA as an independent medical practitioner is a minimum requirement It is essential to have current certification in ACLS, BLS. ATLS and APLS A Diploma in Primary Emergency Care (DipPEC) from the College of Emergency Medicine of South Africa would be advantageous. Prior experience in a similar role would be an advantage Shift work is a necessity in accordance with the requirements of the unit Knowledge of the statutory requirements around practice in an emergency centre is required such as the Child Health Care Act and the Mental Health Care Act Responsibility: Key Areas • Practice emergency medicine in an ethical manner consistent with contemporary emergency medicine principles • Stabilize patients • Make a diagnosis and suggest a course of action • Make a basic evaluation of the patient's condition • Evaluation and referral • Emergency physicians must maintain current emergency medicine knowledge and skills • Perform other ER duties according to the scope of practice • Ability to communicate effectively • Ability to work well under pressure • Ability to prioritize and making decisionsConsultant Name: Mouldmed Locums
