- Understanding of rating and grading is Essential
- Good knowledge of the types and properties of fabrics
- Must be able to interpret a design concept and put it on paper
- Excellent sewing skills
- Must be detailed orientated
- Good mathematical skills for measurements and calculations
- Must be able to draw freehand
