Overall scope of role This position looks after procurement nationally, branches and manufacturing. The role also requires co-ordination and administration of import shipments. The goal is to develop good business relationships with suppliers and ensure the best price, quality and service is being achieved. Key responsibilities Building relationships with local suppliers nationally Negotiate pricing for all raw materials, packaging and finished goods Negotiating prices and contracts for consumable and services Assist in sourcing new suppliers for packaging, raw materials, finished goods Tracking and reporting on supplier performance relative to pricing increases, service levels and quality Negotiate shipping rates locally to compare with International suppliers shipper rates Co-ordinating of import shipments with Operations Manager / Warehouse manager Calculation of Costings for Imported stock Reconciliation of International creditors accounts Cost Saving Initiatives Key communication and relationships Managing relationships and escalations with suppliers Daily communication with manufacturing buyer, and planner and Manager Reporting to the Operations Manager Liaison with staff and other points of escalation within the business including Directors. Specific duties Local Procurement Effectively negotiate with all local suppliers nationally on price, service levels and quality Monitor and report on changes in price and its effect on the business, along with suggested proposed solutions Procurement supply risk analysis and determining mitigating action with suppliers Sourcing of alternate suppliers of existing packing / raws, as well as new suppliers for new products Sourcing and negotiating sub-contract manufacture of products Negotiate shipping freight rates, clearing rates and landside charges with local clearing and forwarding agents Shipping Administration Monitor all Import Shipments with international suppliers to ensure no delays in production, or shipping Monitor and report updated arrival dates Update order details on ERP system (Omni) Co-ordinate delivery of import containers and LCL's with warehouse manager and transporters Skills, qualifications and experience needed Proven working experience in Procurement Proven working experience in Shipping / Logistics Excellent Negotiation and People Skills Demonstrable ability to work independently and handle projects Excellent analytical, problem solving and organisational skills Career development Appropriate training will be provided in order for the role holder to fulfil his or her responsibilities. In response to initiatives by the role holder, or from their line manager, training may be made available to develop their potential skills in order that they might demonstrate personal development which would contribute to the overall success of the business.
