Plant Maintenance Engineer North West Province - South Africa

An Agritalent client, a leading agribusiness, seeks a Plant Maintenance Engineer to manage the engineering function as a mini-business unit. As a production partner, ensure maximum availability, integrity and efficiency of plant and equipment in order to maximise throughput. Project management of all Capex projects. Fulfil the requirements of the OHS Act, regulations and Standards in terms of Safety and Health (SHE responsible person). MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES • Assist the Plant Manager, as part of the Senior Management Team, in the implementation of legal standards and business strategies • Develop the strategic plans for the engineering function in support of the overall business strategy • Administer and resolve all technical maintenance issues • Maintain an efficient and safe working environment for all employees • Design appropriate plant maintenance strategies / programs to reduce all downtime • Perform regular audits on all safety control programs • Collaborate with various other departments to maintain mechanical integrity of all plant processes and equipment • Resolve all maintenance issues and recommend improvements to same if required • Maintain and review everyday logs and assist to resolve all issues and provide support to all engineering activities and participate in all facilities maintenance meetings • Draft / review and recommend improvements of all SOP procedures • Implement planned, preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to ensure the functionality, integrity and accuracy of plant and equipment • Develop, plan and control the maintenance, capital and project budget for the plant • Compliance to the OHS Act in terms of GMR (2) • Compliance to the OHS Regulations and SANS codes (boiler, electrical installations, lifting equipment, etc.) • Lead root cause investigations, PSM (process safety management) element/s, FMEA, HAZOP and other relevant investigative / improvement methodologies • Assist the Plant Manager with business development and / or other related ad-hoc tasks • Plan, lead and manage improvement / capital projects • Support the production function • Plan and deploy resources in order to ensure the effectiveness of the engineering department • Develop the skills base of the engineering department • Ensure the safety and protection of human life, the environment and property • Liaise with external service providers • Cost control and engineering function MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (GCC) • A business related qualification would be advantageous, but not essential • Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Management Experience in an industrial environment • Relevant knowledge of occupational safety – with specific knowledge of Hazardous installations and Pressure Vessels. • Project Management Experience • Full understanding of the OHS Act and Regulations • Minimum 15 years' experience in management role as Plant / Maintenance Engineer • Optional - Basic knowledge on the operation of a Crushing and Solvent Extraction and Effluent Plant • Computer skills including the ability to operate Scada as well as Microsoft Word and Excel
