Plant Operator - Gas - Bidvest Tank Terminals - Richards Bay

Job Advert Summary BTT is currently recruiting for eight (8) Plant Operators to join the Richards Bay Gas Plant Operations Team, to ensure safe and efficient bulk storage operations on a shift basis and effective plant operation. Minimum Requirements Matric with Mathematics and Science Chemical Operations/related qualification would be advantageous Minimum 2 to 3 years’ experience in chemical plant operations Process Safety experience would be advantageous Duties and Responsibilities Load and offload tankers & vessels according to company safe operating procedures and works instructions; Safe-making relevant equipment for maintenance or project work; Operate pumps & valves according to company procedures and work instructions; Line up tanks for offloading/loading of products; Commission new or refurbished equipment; Monitor plant equipment parameters on the SCADA system and report all deviations; Operate compressors and cooling system equipment; Conduct accurate tank dipping operations according to procedure and record or report accordingly; Complete all daily plant logbooks/check lists and report all deviations to superior; Capture road and rail turnaround times on the relevant checklist or systems; Liaise directly with the Staging Operations to arrange road trucks release; Perform weighbridge activities when required using plant relevant system; Complete all daily and weekly safety check lists and report all deviations to your superior; Maintain good housekeeping standard in all plants and waste management; Carry out standby duties when required; Participate in emergency response/firefighting activities in all plants; Conduct weekly deluge testing in all plants as per procedure; Constantly monitor the operational areas to ensure that the plant always remains safe; Line-up valves and facilitate transfers and tank circulation.
