Our client is looking for a Ports Sales & Liaison Consultant to join their team in Richards Bay. Candidates willing to relocate at their own expense welcome to apply. Minimum Requirements: A qualification in Supply Chain preferable. Minimum of 3 years’ port experience as working in a similar role. A sound knowledge of the shipping industry and experience within the ship supplies in Richards Bay area would be advantageous. Must be based or willing to relocate to the Richards Bay area. Good knowledge of port/customs/security would be preferable. Sound people skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with customers. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Good negotiation skills and excellent attention to detail. Service delivery driven and customer focused. Trustworthy with an honest work ethic. Deadline driven with the ability to work in a highly competitive and pressurized environment. Own reliable vehicle and valid driver’s licence essential. Availability to work on weekends and willingness to work beyond normal working hours and on public holidays as this is non-negotiable. Clear credit and criminal record as ITC checks will be conducted. Key performance areas: Liaise with captain and crew of vessels coming into port to confirm arrival details and suitable delivery times for orders by the ship owners and vessel crew. Track the movements of ships and the estimated arrival in the port to plan orders so that deliveries are conducted seamlessly. Ensure an open line of communication between the captain coming into port to meet their requirements timeously and efficiently. Ensure that all documentation is signed off and stamped by the captain of the vessel. Ensure cash is collected on completion of deliveries. Respond to all queries pertaining to the vessels order, once the vessels are in port. Develop strong relationships with key clients to maintain a high level of service and client loyalty. Proactively investigate new opportunities for business by engaging and keeping up to date with relevant stakeholders and source and secure new customers for company Secure general and additional sales through liaising with masters and crew. Be in attendance during order delivery to ensure correct supply and order fulfillment to vessel. Perform various administrative duties.
