Anova’s Jab Smart project was set up in late-2017 to respond to HIV among people who use drugs (PWUD) in Johannesburg Metro. PWUD are at particular risk of HIV and suffer high levels of stigma and prejudice, often being denied access to essential health services. Jab Smart is a peer-led project that provides a range of harm reduction services to PWUD. The project is implemented together with the COJ Health District, and it is supported by Global Fund through its partner NACOSA. We are looking for a Professional Nurses to provide high quality HTS and outreach services in communities. Ensure safe and secure transportation of staff members to and from outreach sites and offices. Responsible for managing the mobile clinic or work vehicle. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Transport and Logistics Ensure safe and secure transit to and from outreach sites and offices. Responsible for managing the mobile clinic or work vehicle. Maintain fuel, mileage, and maintenance records as instructed by Project manager, site Coordinator/ Administrator. Ensure all field equipment is loaded and unloaded each shift (chairs, tents, generators, etc.). Ensure all the items in the vehicle are handled correctly and you should report all the damages that occurred. Follow all the rules/regulations of the road relating to the National Road Traffic Act of South Africa and as per Anova vehicle SOP and safety requirements. Ensure that you keep up to date with Anova’s vehicle policy. Responsible for driving yourself and the team to the sites of work as and when required, and you should adhere to the Anova vehicle management policy. Submit weekly vehicle inspection checklist to the project administrator and provide a written report in case of any incident or accident to the vehicle. Outreach support work Provide an integrated, holistic client centred HTS with support. Conduct HTS as per the National HIV Counselling and Testing policy/guidelines. Ensure all HIV positive diagnosed clients are navigated to the nearest facilities. Ensure newly diagnosed positive client is initiated on ART. Ensure IQC is done and recorded as per SOP. Ensure compliance to HTS, waste management and infection control guidelines and policies. Encourage PWUDs to seek health care, including HCT and STI screenings. Ensure that there are adequate HTS supplies for outreach. Ensure that there is no misuse of company resources. Ensure testing supplies are stored corrected in the field. Ensure that you always use a cooler box to collect and store your HTS supplies. Support the professional nurse with supply management of the mobile clinic contents. Administration support work All client’s data completed correctly and submitted daily. Record keeping into DoH HTS register. High quality HTS data reported daily. Data queries attended to within 24 hours. Monitoring HTS data and ensuring targets are met. Delegated administration chores done, as required. Professional conduct maintained at work as per applicable policies. Develop strong relationships with health facilities in implementing district to ensure linkage to care for referred PWID. Submit timesheets timely. Any other tasks as agreed with line manager. Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required A degree or diploma qualification as a Professional Nurse. Registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council. NIMART (Nurse Initiated Management of ART) qualification (essential). Must have a dispensing license. Valid Drivers’ Licence with PDP At least 3 years’ driving experience. At least 2 years’ experience in an HIV/Aids counselling and testing (HCT) setting. At least 2 years’ experience as a registered nurse with good knowledge of the PWID community and relevant issues. Familiar with latest HIV Management, TB and PMTCT guidelines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good report writing skills. Strong organizational skills, including time management and multi-tasking skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Attention to detail. Planning and organising skills. Strong team orientation and organising skills.
