Phakisa Holdings is currently seeking a QA Supervisor in the Delmas and Sundra areas. Management of the Operational Quality Assurance department including accountability for the Abattoir Quality assurance Department budget Ensure the availability and training of offsite warehouse personnel. Ensure final product compliance to customer specification / business requirements. Working with Abattoir management, warehouse management and teams to ensure operational Quality and Food safety Objectives are met based on Companies directive and strategy. Oversee the operational compliance (Implementation, maintenance, and improvement) to all Quality, Food Safety and animal welfare legal requirements, international standards, current and future customers requirements and company Policies. Continuously review quality department management programmes, ensuring that all processes meet food safety and quality standards as per prescribed management system including all prevailing legislative requirements. Ensure that operational requirements of quality management system are in place and met. Ensuring non-conformance closure related to Quality and Food Safety ensuring continual improvement Quality Assurance representative in abattoir and warehouse improvement initiatives as directed or required by abattoir management Appointed as Food Safety Coordinator in the abattoirs and Recall team member Identify and implement control measures for prerequisite programmes, Operational Prerequisites programs and CCP's verification activities as identified through Food Safety Risk assessments (e.g., HACCP) Ensure adherence to agreed upon incoming raw material, packaging material and processing aids specifications upon delivery Ensure adherence to developed final product sampling and testing schedule for quality and food safety operational requirements. Ensure verification of cleaning efficiency after cleaning processes. Facilitate root cause analysis in a cross functional environment for operational and food safety related incidences. Identify potential and reoccurring risks to food safety with possible solution. Communicate to site management on Quality Assurance and food safety related operational issues. Liaise with: Government officials Industry bodies on Food safety Matters (i.e., Consumer Goods Council, SAPA) External suppliers and customers on Food Safety Management Inter-departmental managers on cross-functional requirements Implement and measure KPI's as received from the business for the QA department Report to site management in trends and legal compliance Provide technical support and liaise with abattoir management on deviations - with focused results communication on trend analysis and internal audits. Conduct internal audits and participate in external food safety audits Liaise with HR to ensure compliance to approved QA structures. Facilitate and ensure closure of customer product complaints investigation process (Quality and Food Safety) and act as a liaison for complaints responses. Ensure departments fulfils quality and food safety management requirements as set by the Food Safety team. Attend site specific management meetings Identify opportunities of process improvement initiatives for the abattoirs with specific focus on the functioning of the QA department Participate in trials required for new product development in collaboration with the marketing and sales team. Identify training needs for operational purposes B-tech/Degree/3-year diploma in Animal Production Quality or food safety related auditing qualification (Certificate) Driver's license and own transport At least 5 years' experience in leading a team Working experience in a food facility is essential (2-3 years) At least 3 years within a quality/food safety department Working experience with ISO 22000/FSSC 22000/ISO 9001 or similar (Min 3 years) Knowledge and understanding of HACCP, VACCP, TACCP and HIRA principles Knowledge and understanding of Quality assurance and Quality Control processes Understanding of quality equipment maintenance processes Knowledge and understanding of poultry regulations and food safety related legislation Understanding of micro-organisms and their source within the abattoir/food processing facility Sound knowledge of food production processes Understanding of food facility cleaning and sanitation processes Understanding of usage of cleaning equipment handling process and pest control principles Performance Management Basic understanding of environmental and occupational health and safety legal liabilities Market Related Apply Now
