Regional Sales Manager (Gauteng) - Johannesburg

Job Purpose: The Regional Sales Manager is tasked with expanding market presence and maximizing sales within South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. This role is pivotal in integrating our products into major highway and building project specifications and designs, driving revenue growth, enhancing customer acquisition, increasing profitability, and managing the South African-based sales team. The successful candidate will cultivate a winning culture focused on team collaboration and aggressive growth. Key Responsibilities: Market Development: Proactively identify and capture product placement opportunities in early-stage projects to establish our company as the preferred supplier. Relationship Building: Forge and maintain close relationships with key industry professionals including highway designers, planners, architects, and engineers to boost product awareness and sales. Sales Generation: Actively pursue sales opportunities to ensure our products are the first choice for Main Tier 1 and Sub-Contractors. Forecasting: Deliver accurate monthly sales forecasts by product to aid in supply chain and inventory planning. Product Promotion: Present our products and articulate their benefits to potential clients, trade associations, and governmental agencies. Strategic Planning: Identify new business opportunities and develop strategic plans to capitalize on them. Team Leadership and Culture Development: Lead the South African-based sales team while driving a winning culture that emphasizes teamwork, proactive lead generation, and aggressive pursuit of new business sectors. Sales Training: Develop and implement training programs for the sales team to enhance their product knowledge and sales skills. Performance Monitoring: Regularly review team performance against sales targets and implement necessary actions for improvement. Expansion Initiatives: Identify, recruit and manage sales agents and distributors in regions where we currently do not operate, ensuring effective coverage and market penetration. Technical Support: Provide ongoing support to existing customers for technical inquiries, product selection, and application methods. Interdepartmental Coordination: Collaborate with Technical and Customer Field Support departments to resolve customer issues efficiently. Market Intelligence: Collect and analyze data on customer preferences and competitor activity. CRM Management: Maintain and update the CRM database regularly to ensure accuracy and accessibility. Order Management: Coordinate with Customer Service to streamline order processing and delivery issues. Reporting: Complete and submit reports regarding client visits, team performance, and other relevant activities promptly and accurately. Measures of Success: Increased sales volume and profit margins from the region. Successful penetration into new market segments. Enhanced quality and depth of market and competitor intelligence. Improved accuracy and timeliness of CRM updates. Effective communication across departments to facilitate operations. Strong leadership and development of the South African sales team, fostering a cohesive and aggressive business growth culture. Location : Based in our Johannesburg office, this position requires extensive travel throughout South Africa and the Sub-Saharan region. The role allows for a degree of flexibility and occasional remote work from home. Skills and experience Sales Management Experience Experience in the Paints, Coatings, Road Marketings industry Field sales experience, identifying potential; increasing market share; creating new customers; supporting existing customers; key account management; improving margins. Proven experience in a similar role Proven experience in managing people Proven ability to meet and exceed sales quotas. Proven track record of successfully managing customer relationships. Ability to use Microsoft packages: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint Self-motivated Able to develop strong customer relationships. Ability to think strategically. Able to work independently.
