The job requires travelling to clients sites in Durban The salary bracket is 20 000 - 25 000 ctc Job Title: Maintenance Technician - Electronics Manufacturing Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our electronics manufacturing team. As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our manufacturing equipment and facilities. Your expertise will contribute to the production of high-quality electronic components, meeting our production goals and quality standards. Basic understanding of compressors Basic understanding of generators( not a pre-requisite though) Basic understanding of mechanical(bearings, pumps, motors, pneumatics) Basic knowledge of plumbing Basic knowledge of building maintenance( doors, windows, gates, light replacement, etc) Basic electrical knowledge and connecting of 220v and use of a multi-meter for fault finding. Basic knowledge of all hand tools Basic knowledge of welding(not a pre-requisite though) Responsibilities: 1. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine and preventative maintenance on a variety of electronic manufacturing equipment, including but not limited to soldering stations, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and inspection tools. 2. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions, electrical, and mechanical issues to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency. 3. Calibration: Calibrate and fine-tune equipment to ensure accuracy and precision in electronic component assembly. 4. Repair: Repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems to keep the manufacturing process running smoothly. 5. Documentation: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment history to facilitate tracking and planning. 6. Safety: Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to create a safe working environment for all employees. Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate measures to mitigate them. 7. Inventory Management: Keep track of spare parts, tools, and supplies needed for maintenance and make timely requests for replenishment. 8. Collaboration: Work closely with production teams to identify equipment-related issues and implement solutions to minimize disruptions. 9. Upgrades: Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery. Stay updated on the latest industry trends and technologies to recommend upgrades and improvements. 10. Training: Train and mentor junior maintenance staff in equipment maintenance and repair procedures. 11. Site Maintenance: Perform general facility maintenance tasks, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and building repairs. 12. Groundskeeping: Maintain the exterior areas, ensuring they are safe and well-maintained. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electronics, electrical, or mechanical maintenance is a plus. Proven experience in maintenance within an electronics manufacturing or similar environment. Strong understanding of electronics and electrical systems. Proficiency in reading technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in an industrial setting. Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking and reporting. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and supplies. Stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods. Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights. Working Conditions: This role is primarily based in a manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to machinery noise, dust, and chemicals. Shift work and overtime may be required to support production schedules.
