Snr Manager (SHERQ and Sustainability) - Sasolburg

Overview Lead continuous improvement, Safety, Health, Environment Risk and Quality (SHERQ), where excellence is expected, and managers are held accountable and responsible for compliance to legislation throughout the division. To develop, manage and oversee the implementation of SHERQ and IMS policies, processes, practices, and procedures within the Agriculture division to ensure compliance with the relevant statutory and other requirements ensuring effective and efficient management for the division. Drive a culture of safety and sustainability in the division. Qualifications Accredited Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering or Science Post graduate degree will be an advantage Experience More than 10 years' relevant managerial experience and a demonstrated track record in leading a diverse team, including successfully implementing a SHERQ Strategy within an operational business Extensive knowledge of: Industry SHE Principles & Practices Hazard Identification and Risk Analysis (HIRA) Best practice training methodology and implementation Effective incident management ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards SHE management systems Hazard, Risk and Environmental Management Systems Laws, legal codes, precedents, government regulations Project management Duties SHERQ Management: Manage and coordinate the development and implementation of a strategy to shape the SHERQ function within the various sites, and work closely with the site management team to deliver the SHERQ strategy and drive a SHERQ and continuous improvement culture Implement and monitor the various SHE management programs in line with achieving the divisional strategy and safety objectives Drive the implementation of effective leading and lagging indicators by responsibility area, linked to responsible individuals, to identify areas required for strategic intervention to be addressed by management Facilitate and manage incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions – ensure Group reporting requirements and protocols are addressed Effectively measure and manage lead indicators and learnings from investigations to ensure sharing of knowledge and corrective actions being implemented Manage and lead the division’s Process Safety Management drive and provide oversight on critical elements Verify data received, to conduct analysis and identify trends to compile internal and external SHE reports as per the legal and company requirements Recommend and implement initiatives in alignment with strategic objectives to drive safety performance metrics, continuous improvement, and a SHERQ culture Manage the division’s ISO accreditation processes and ensure compliance Manage the dissemination and communication of SHE initiatives, SHE information, and performance to the business Identify training needs, and ensure compliance with SHERQ related legislation, policies and procedures Manage the process to identify, develop and implement occupational wellness programs in accordance with the needs and risks identified Identify and effectively manage risks to ensure Zero Harm-Positive Impact Financial Management: Draft budget for cost centre, based on planned projects and deliverables, to ensure proper financing of the function Adhering to Omnia procurement practices Sustainability: Develop, plan and manage programs to monitor adherence to sustainability policies and standards on a continuous basis to ensure that Agriculture meets all relevant SHERQ & Process Safety requirements. Ensure risks are identified, assessed and actions implemented to control and mitigate high significant SHERQ business risks Human Capital: Ensure effective talent management and development. Ensure that people are appointed that will be a benefit to the employer. Ensure that all individuals are assessed, and development plans are in place in accordance with their profiles. Build organizational structures making use of specialists as well as multiscale individuals. Ensure the SHERQ function is fully integrated into all relevant organizational structures Do effective succession planning to ensure sustainability of the SHERQ function Emergency Management: Plan, manage and control the Emergency services of Agriculture to ensure maximum protection to Omnia property and people.
