Sous Chef - Boutique Hotel - Camps Bay

Bella's is a cozy, 40 seater restaurant situated at the beautiful Camps Bay Village, part of the Village N Life portfolio. Village N Life is a leading hospitality and tourism company based in the beautiful Camps Bay. We are recruiting a sous chef for Bella's, where the focus is on fresh, local ingredients and recipes that focus on wellness. CANDIDATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: • Grade 12 or equivalent • Professional Cookery Certificate / Culinary Diploma is essential Work experience: • Previous experience in the same or similar position in a 4/5 star hotel • Must have a valid driver’s license and own vehicle • Must have sound computer skills. MS Office (Word, Excel and Email) is essential • Familiar with all duties and procedures in the Kitchen Other Attributes: • Reliable, responsible and dependable to fulfil obligations • Attention to detail • Ability to multitask • Show initiative by taking control of task • Excellent communication skills • Friendly and service orientated Tasks (include but not limited to): • Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met • Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations • Check the quantity and quality of received products • Order or requisition food and other supplies needed to ensure efficient operation • Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation • Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure conformance to established standards • Determine how food should be presented and create decorative food displays • Instruct cooks and other workers in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food • Estimate amounts and costs of required supplies, such as food and ingredients • Collaborate with other personnel to plan and develop recipes and menus, taking into account such factors as seasonal availability of ingredients and the likely number of customers • Must be able to ensure that all stock takes are completed in an efficient manner • Ensure minimum wastage and ensure food costs are kept at an acceptable level • Maintain uniform standards • Make sure that at all times the kitchen is in a hygienic, clean and orderly fashion as set out in the SOP • Follow the set-out cleaning schedule to ensure hygiene standards are adhered to according to the SOP • To ensure a minimum wastage of all products and ingredients To apply for the position, please forward a motivational letter, an updated CV with a picture of yourself to [Please apply below] Please note that only successful candidates will be contacted.
