Intermediate System Engineer (JB4295) Remote (Suitable for candidates in Gauteng only) R550 000 to R600 000 Annually CTC Permanent A Travel Retail Software company is looking for a dedicated Intermediate System Engineer to support and maintaining IT production and integration systems within the organisation, providing support and documentation to the user base and coordinating with other IT divisions to improve the delivery of services to the business and clients. As a global company, they provide exposure to diverse cultures, technologies, and project techniques, actively supporting employee career development Minimum Requirements: Matric Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field University degree or graduate qualification in a related discipline such as Information Technology (Added Advantage) Relevant industry certifications (Added Advantage) Relevant certifications, such as ITIL Foundation, Extensive experience in application support, including leadership roles 3 years of experience in the system operations environment 3 years of experience in the SQL Experience in Windows Server Environments Data Warehousing experience advantageous Provide 2nd and 3rd Line Support for business systems Maintain tickets within the incident lifecycle (timeously, effectively and efficiently) Investigates data / system inconsistencies reported by users Work closely with manager, developers, project teams and users to ensure a continuous stable and efficient environment Investigates data / system inconsistencies reported by users Provides 24 x 7 standby / support for the production environments Identifying and initiating any tuning to be carried out to optimize and improve capacity or performance Acquires and applies knowledge of business processes, procedures, policies and practices Communication skills Accountability Results driven Team success Adaptability Reasoning: Quick evaluator of facts vs ideas or theory Analytical, methodical and logical thinker Appreciation: recognizing value Intuitive and innovative problem solver Application: using ideas or knowledge in new areas Strong listening, comprehension and formulating skills Acute attention to detail Goal setting and planning People and process driven Effective communicator Well-developed resource management skills Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines Ability to cope with and handle variable workload - can be heavy at times Ability to work without close supervision Well-developed inter-personal skills Able to self-correct and be flexible / adapt to change Ethical and honest Duties and Responsibilities: Build and maintain system documentation: Architecture overviews and diagrams Integration and dependency mapping Security policies and procedures System policies and procedures Data Protection and Retention, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan End user documentation End user training Support team documentation System monitoring and reporting Capacity planning and management Systems risk management Manage and drive system incident, problem and change requests to resolution Systems to be Supported : (Not an exhaustive list, but covers primary business critical systems) Microsoft SQL Server – DB services for most internal systems Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) – Third-party developed CRM platform Sage 300 2014 (ERP) – Back office financial system Integration (IGN) – Third-party developed middleware Flight Reconciliation System (FRS) – In-house developed core business operational system FRSWebAPI – In-house developed Service Layer to FRS TourPOS App – In-house developed iOS App Verifone Merchant App – Third-party (Verifone) developed iOS payment App JAMF JSS (MDM) – Mobile Device Management servers BI and Reporting Services – Microsoft PowerBI, SSRS, SSIS and SSAS Change and System Release Management: Risk and impact assessment Quality assurance: Process adherence and documentation review QA and UAT sign off validation Participate in change and release Go / No Go decisions Coordinate and drive improvements through post release and change evaluation Vendor relationship management: Vendor and third-party internal “expert”.
