The institute has a job opening for a Technical Trainer within our School of Artisans, Trades and Professionals. We are particularly recruiting for an Automotive Motor Mechanic-, Diesel Mechanic-, Electrician-, Welder- and Fitter and Turner. The prime role of the Technical Trainer (also referred to as the Lecturer) will be to teach students the necessary skills and applications for the development of specific programme disciplines of which one is deemed a Subject Matter Expert. This includes conducting training; assessment & invigilation as well as drive the development and expansion of the faculty offerings and its delivery methods. Facilitating student learning through interactive teaching that promotes student engagement and support the student learning experience. Setting and Conducting of assessments, marking, and providing meaningful feedback Contributing to programme and content development, and improvement of resources Undertaking relevant academic administration activities Ensuring a positive student experience, providing student support, and maintaining excellent customer service Maintaining strong working relationships within the department and with other departments Prepare Comprehensive briefs and marking schedules are available to students at the start of the project. Briefs include aims, learning outcomes, submission requirements, assessment criteria, references, and additional resources keep themselves informed and abreast of developments in their field Inform students about the assessment methods, procedures and regulations as contained in briefs and the assessment policy The lecturer is perceived as fair, approachable and supportive Promote student success through initiatives that see improved student retention and throughput rates. Identify at-risk students and implement strategies to assist these students Build and maintain communities of learning and communities of practice Grade 12 with full Mathematics . 2 years' experience in a position within an educational environment would be a distinct advantage. At least 5 years' experience in one of the following Trades: Automotive Motor Mechanic Fitter and Turner Welder Electrician Diesel Mechanic Must have a relevant trade certification Ability to understand, use and learn modern technology. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment. Must be able to work from our Midrand campus and have reliable transport.
