We require the services of a highly experienced Workshop Manager to take charge of the Fleet Repair and Service Workshop at our Head Office in Eikenhof. This is a hands-on role in which the individual will need to take ownership of the workshop and the team to ensure that costs are controlled, proper service and repair records are kept and that the fleet is serviced and maintained to meet the company's operational requirements. The ideal candidate will have excellentsimultaneouslymanagerial and organizational skills as our fleet has more than a 100 vehicles spread over 3 provinces for which the successful person will take responsibility for services, repairs, breakdowns and record keeping. This is a highly pressurized position and requires assertiveness, excellent mechanical knowledge, planning skills and the ability to manage various projects similtaniously. Forecasts goals and objectives for the department. Recruit, train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of all service department staff. Prepare and implement a preventative maintenance system for each vehicle in the fleet. Ensure that all vehicles are properly maintained, serviced, and repaired cost effectively to perform at optimal fuel efficiency, with minimal downtime. Complete job cards for repairs, maintenance and services with accurate estimated repair-time and ensure that technicians complete the job within the required time. Attend to breakdowns fast and effectively and ensure minimum downtime. Monitor and control mechanical workmanship to ensure the quality of the repairs and services done to prevent returns. Set realistic deadlines and estimated completion times and meet the deadlines. Provide excellent internal customer service with clear communication, meeting deadlines, assuring quality of repairs and services done. Maintain a clean and well-organized workshop. Ensure the Cleaning and maintaining of all workshop tools and relevant equipment. Ensure regular required calibration, serving and inspections of lifting equipment, compressors, electrical power tools and any other relevant tools or equipment. Control spares and tyres to prevent theft and damage. Building and maintaining good relationships with all stakeholders. Implement cost and time saving activities. Implement systems and procedures to improve workshop efficiencies and overall performance. Responsible for all vehicle parts signed out from the stores on a job card to ensure it is placed in the relevant vehicle. Responsible for the throughput of vehicles in the workshop to ensure a high level of productivity is maintained. Manage and control workshop staff attendance, leave, overtime and use of equipment and tools. Responsible for housekeeping and the health and safety of the employees. Adhere to all company policies and procedures. Safeguard company assets. Implement and adhere to anti-theft measures to control all company assets. Prevent abuse of company property, tools and equipment. Prevent private jobs and misappropriation of company property. Manpower planning and even distribution of responsibilities and work between yourself and your staff to ensure fair workload for each employee. Ensure accurate timekeeping of staff and completion of timesheet. Ensure compliance to finance and purchasing systems, payment dates and procedures. Provide weekly management reports to HOD. Follow management instructions and perform ad hoc duties as and when required as per operational requirements. Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements: Must be qualified mechanic. Have 10 years' experience working as a mechanic in a reputable motor vehicle brand workshop. Have 5 years Workshop Manager or Workshop Foreman experience in a reputable motor vehicle brand workshop. Have contactable references that can verify working experience. Strong leadership qualities. Computer literate on MS Office – Outlook, Word and Excel. Strong administrative skills. Pro-active and deadline driven. Excellent planning, organizing, and monitoring skills. Excellent mechanical knowledge and trouble shooting skills.
