About the job The Credit Controller is accountable and is a single/first point of contact for collection process of customer accounts. The Credit Controller ensures integrity of debtor’s accounts and that all payment collection responsibilities are met in accordance with Danone policy. He/she is responsible for leading issue resolution and risk management related to debtor’s account management. The Credit Controller works closely with the appropriate individuals at the customer and within Danone (Sales, OTC OM, Finance, etc.) to resolve all issues. KEY REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB 1. Record, post and track customer payments Follow up that customer payments are received in line with customers payment terms Arrange for payments to be uplifted and banked if required Check daily banking for available payments and post to customer accounts same day Escalate issues related to late/incomplete payments timely to prevent possible loss of revenue Allocate using remittance advices from customers Where transacting on accounts require approval, ensure that the process is followed and that records are kept safe 2. Payment allocation to customer accounts Confirm that a remittance matching the value of the payment is available prior to allocation Complete payment allocation prior to statement run Ensure deductions are coded appropriately to allow for correct reporting Ensure that texting is complete by the 2nd week of the month and that it is according to AR reporting standards Check/follow up that supporting documents for deductions are made available by the customer Follow up with customer on payment discrepancies to ensure alignment with customer 3. Recover overdue invoices Follow up with customer timeously on reasons for unpaid invoices Download invoices/PODs from the system and/or request them from Logistics on time/immediately when you become aware of an unpaid invoice Where required; develop / deploy action plans to resolve issues holding up payment of invoice Document actions needed / taken and engage your team leader on time for assistance required Escalate any risk related to non-payment to prevent possible loss of revenue Call customers to confirm payments using cash projections as a guide of amounts expected on a monthly basis .4. Maintain customer reconciliation Keep open invoice reconciliation aligned with customers Check validity of back-up documents given for claims that they agree to amounts processed on customer accounts before handing them over to TTM Controller/KAMs for processing of credits Ensure contras are done timeously to avoid over/understatement of open items Provide input when required to weekly / monthly reporting and bad debts write off /provision 5. Issue customer statements Ensure customer statements are issued in the format and timeline as expected by the customer Follow up with customer to confirm receipt of the statement and any additional information they require 7. Ensure control compliance Have a high level of understanding of internal policies and procedures Ensure approval levels are adhered to Be a controls champion, escalate issues of non-compliance and process failures Ensure legitimacy of documents given to customers that they comply with AR standards Perform any task that management deems suitable and fair to allocate to you This is the core function that requires working from the company premises About you KEY REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB Qualification(s) Matric Credit Management Diploma would an advantage Financial Accounting Certificate will be advantageous Experience and Skills 2-3 Years’ experience in and FMCG environment Knowledge of MS Office, MS Windows and MS Excel SAP experience About us OWN your IDEAS In our culture, respect and team spirit are embedded at all levels the best idea is not determined by the hierarchical level.
