Accountant – Great Plains Location: Parktown Salary: R50 000CTC Duties: Responsible for the management, preparation and reporting of monthly financials. Preparation of profit or loss statements and monthly balance sheets for two companies. Preparation of monthly cash flow statements. Authorization of daily POPs and payment requests. Authorization and processing of voids of customer accounts. Checking and authorization of weekly and monthly creditors’ reconciliations. Preparation and processing of month-end accrual journals. Processing of monthly depreciation of fixed assets. Processing monthly customer interest on deposits. Compilation and analysis of financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts and document business transactions. Calculation and processing of monthly VAT returns to SARS. Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures within the accounting department. Monitoring and review of accounting system reports for accuracy and completeness. Preparation of payroll journal entries and monthly payroll reconciliation. Preparation of monthly departmental expense budgets (vs actual). Resolve accounting discrepancies. Prepare and review monthly balance sheet. Recommend, develop, and maintain financial systems of Great Plains with Parity Software. Supervise the input and handling of financial data and reports for Great Plains and FRX automated financial systems. Prepare and review all monthly balance sheet item recons. Assist with budgeting and year-end audits. Assist with BBBEE verification and audits. Control Employee Development Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 qualification. Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Minimum of three to five years’ experience within a similar sized organization. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles. General Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections. Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines. An above-average ability to perform analysis and to accurately address/dissect detailed complex financial issues. Computer Literate (MS Office). Great Plains is an added advantage.
