The Accountant will provide support to the Financial Manager and other operational teams. Responsibilities will range from preparing reports and analyses, to validation and reconciliation of data, participation in various month end closing activities and ad hoc functions as assigned. The ideal candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and possess a strong business acumen. Strong administrative qualities are required. General Responsibilities: Review and validate accounting transactions for mainly accounts payable and purchase documents. Participate in, assist with, and manage monthly closing procedures. Reconcile various subledgers to the general ledger, including bank reconciliations. Review, validate and approve banking details and payments. Preparing various reports for management Assist with the compilation of income statement and balance sheet for month-end reporting. Human Resources: Overall management of employees reporting to the position and to ensure optimum performance, attendance, and customer service excellence. Ensure that all employees are adequately trained, and performance reviews are timeously completed and appropriately used as a development tool. Compliance: Ensure that FIC and POPIA Compliance are always adhered to. Ensure that all irregular behaviour is reported and correctly responded to. Grade 12 B Com Degree (B Com Accounting will be advantageous) Minimum of 2 to 5 years practical experience Self-motivated, team player who enjoys problem solving. Good verbal and written communication Self-motivated and deadline driven, be able to multitask and perform in a pressured environment. Own transport
