Our client, a leading company in the Logistics & Freight industry, is seeking a meticulous and experienced Accountant to join their dynamic team. This role is pivotal in supporting their business with critical financial decisions. The incumbent will be responsible for collecting, tracking, and correcting the company's finances. This includes conducting financial audits, reconciling bank statements, and ensuring accurate financial records throughout the year. Additionally, the role involves tracking and recording expenses related to transportation, including fuel, maintenance, and labour costs. Focus Area 1: Payroll and Leave Management Process salary journal and other staff deductions Ensure payroll submissions for NBCRFLI & Provident Fund are completed accurately and on time Collaborate with third-party service providers Manage leave administration Focus Area 2: Credit Limits Manage policies and processes regarding CGIC (Credit Guarantee Insurance Corporation) Handle cover requests online once credit applications are completed Inform relevant departments and ensure details are accurately captured on Soloplan and Pastel Manage late-paying customers and their debts Submit claims online before CGIC cut-off for overdue accounts Follow up on claim processes and submit monthly declaration reports List debtors not on CGIC or with exceeded cover Report on risks and expected payment dates from CGIC, and develop action plans for outstanding debtors Focus Area 3: Debtors, Creditors, and Cashflow Monitor and manage creditors and debtors daily Track and record expenses related to transportation, including fuel, maintenance, and labour costs Ensure diesel and prepaid recons are completed and balanced Liaise with management when payments are not made Manage AP and AR age analysis, draft creditor remittances, and provide accurate data Generate weekly cashflow reports and reconcile all debtors and creditors Report and comment on outstanding payments/credits and potential debtor and creditor issues Focus Area 4: Bookkeeping and Financial Reporting Reconcile balance sheet accounts, cashbooks, pre-paid accounts, salary control accounts, and accruals Prepare financial statements and reports for management, shareholders, and regulatory agencies Prepare the year-end file for audit Analyse financial data to identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend operational improvements Generate fleet expense reports and vehicle expenditure reports Assist with budget planning and forecasting for transportation operations Finalize management accounts for each department, schedule meetings with department heads, and report actuals to budget Ensure all statutory obligations are completed and submitted on time Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field 7-10 years' experience in accounting, preferably in the logistics industry Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Advanced computer literacy, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., Soloplan, Pastel) Fluent in English and Afrikaans
