All Rounder Operator - South Africa

This role is mainly responsible for the safe and efficient of Dozer, Grader and Water Cart but not limited to just those machines, other equipment may include from operating dump trucks, excavators, loaders and other equipment that the supervisor may require if competent to operate from time to time to supporting the overall performance of mining operations at Norton Gold Fields Limited Paddington Operations. The All Rounder reports to the Open Pit Shift Supervisor. It is expected that the position will have a direct advisory and interactive role with Maintenance, Technical Services (e.g. Survey, Geology and Mine Planning) and other support services (Commercial/HR). Key Duties / Tasks : Conduct pre starts on equipment prior to operation. Initiate and participate in equipment handovers with Open Pit Shift Supervisor and cross shift operator. Follow and interpret mine plan instructions to achieve good quality production results in a timely manner. Interpret, understand and apply survey instructions and plans. Complete task in efficient and effect manner. Effective time management of tasks Report significant changes in the ground conditions and use of consumables. Operate equipment to “Best Practice” standards to minimise damage and unnecessary wear on equipment. Conclude shift with post shift checks; cleaning and refuelling equipment where appropriate. Complete daily take 5 and JSA risk assessment as required when performing tasks Ability to exercise good judgment and be innovative in selecting, using and improving the correct procedure, process or technique to solve problems, execute tasks and safely operate required machinery. Be able to complete competently machine challenge evaluation for all machine. Coach new and/or Mentor inexperienced operators. Share knowledge and/or experiences with crew and/or management. To perform to a standard that is inline or better than in the training competency standards on site. Maintain a high level of housekeeping. Be able to manage tasks on their own Maintain a level tip head and correct windrow height for the appropriate truck size. Give clear precise directions when working with in other machinery. Ensure minimal disruptions to the loading and haulage cycle. Report all damage or faults immediately to supervisor and maintenance. Follow tagging procedures as per site procedures. If in doubt with anything contact supervisor. Qualifications : Current, unrestricted Western Australian C Class Driver’s Licence. Satisfactory National Police Clearance. Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable). Cert II or III in Surface Extraction (desirable). Competency in operating Dozers, Graders, Water Trucks and Dump Trucks. Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge of Open Pit mining equipment.HR ticket (desirable ) Skills and Experience: WORK KNOWLEDGE: Competent (at least 12 months solid operational experience in the operation of the following machinery (or similar/larger sized machines): -CAT 777 or 789 Trucks -CAT 773 Water Carts -CAT 14 and 16 M Series Graders -CAT D10 Dozers Basic knowledge of Mine Regulations, Act and HSE Regulations. Minimum 4 years working at an Open Pit Operation with Gold Mining experience desirable. Demonstrated commitment to ensuring a safe working environment. Mechanical aptitude desirable. Ability to accurately complete paperwork (run sheets, timesheets, etc.) relevant to the role. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Mature team player with good communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively using the 2 way radio. Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Able to speak, read and write legible English at an Australian Secondary School standard. COMPUTER SKILLS: Basic Computer skills (Email, Word, etc.). Previous experience using MPX (desirable).
