Assembler Consultants - Cape Town City Centre
PBT Group is seeking skilled Mainframe Application Contractors to provide operational support during the Mainframe Modernization program. The successful candidates will ensure the operational continuity of critical business processes by maintaining and supporting the mainframe applications. These roles require on-site presence in Bellville, Cape Town, in adherence to the hybrid work policy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide operational support for critical mainframe applications to mitigate business continuity risks.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and align application support activities accordingly.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade software to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Develop technical documentation and provide direction to ensure alignment with operational goals.
- Participate in standby responsibilities as required.
- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions to facilitate the acquisition of institutional knowledge.
- Adhere to established software development processes and methodologies.
- Support problem management and provide recommendations for implementing changes.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with business stakeholders and team members.
- Perform ad hoc runs and reporting tasks as necessary.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in Mainframe Software Development, with exposure to applications in Financial Services strongly recommended.
- Proficiency in IBM Assembler, Cobol, and other mainframe development tools and environments.
- Strong technical skills in MQ, SQL, JCL, VSAM, and other relevant technologies.
- Solid understanding of software development processes and methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Proven record of exceptional work performance.
Additional Information:
- Contract duration: Minimum 12 months to facilitate knowledge transfer.
