We are recruiting for a Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team. In this multifaceted role, you will be responsible for managing the financial records and administrative tasks that are vital to the smooth operation of our office. Your meticulous bookkeeping skills, proficiency with relevant software, and attention to detail will be key to your success in this role. Bookkeeping and Financial Management of the Business: Establishing and maintaining different accounts. Accurately recording and verifying financial transactions. Defining and implementing bookkeeping policies and procedures. Developing systems to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts. Maintaining subsidiary accounts through accurate posting, verification, and allocation of transactions. Reviewing and reconciling entries to ensure the accuracy and balance of subsidiary accounts. Preparing a trial balance for the accountants. Preparing financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing accounting information. Ensuring compliance with local legal requirements. Preparing VAT201, EMP201, and EMP501 reports. Managing payroll and wages systems, including calculation of all staff wages and commissions (including manual systems). Experience in preparing Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) documentation and ensuring compliance. Collaborating with management to develop and monitor budgets. Analysing financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement. Advising on financial decisions by providing insights, forecasts, and budget analyses. Ensuring proper archiving and retrieval of financial and administrative records. Assisting with the implementation of internal financial controls and process improvements. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Managing and reconciling petty cash accounts. Handling and documenting office expenses. Assisting with the preparation of annual budgets. Collaborating with external auditors during financial audits. Managing and tracking office inventory and supplies. Coordinating with vendors for office equipment maintenance. Assisting in the creation and maintenance of employee records. Assisting with HR-related tasks such as new employee onboarding. Coordinating meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements. Managing and organizing office filing systems. Assisting in the preparation of various reports and presentations. Assist Business with compiling and submitting FICA reports / Tax to Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board. Minimum years of experience: 3 - 5 years. Certification or relevant education in accounting or related fields - e.g National Diploma or degree from accredited institute of higher learning (NQF4 or higher), National Diploma in Technical Financial Accounting, Chartered Bookkeeper (in terms of SAIBA). Proven experience in a bookkeeping and administrative role - experience in-house or in a firm. Bookkeeper Skills Required: Experience in SageOne Accounting and SageOne Payroll and other relevant accounting software and tools. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or any other spreadsheet software. Demonstrated experience in establishing accounts and developing standards. Accurate data entry skills. Deep understanding of accounting principles. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
