Phakisa Holdings is currently seeking a Bookkeeper for Maternity cover in the Pietermaritsburg area. Required to take over the entire accounting function for Thistlewood, up until balance sheet. Posting of bank statements daily (receipts and payments) Reconciliation of bank statements, minimum of once a month, preferably 2 times a month Posting of creditor invoices as received, and not when paid All creditors' invoices to be posted, stock related and non-stock (monthly expenses) Build up database of suppliers with their terms and what they supply Monthly creditor payment reconciliations to be signed off by the CFO or Plant Manager, to be done before payments are made Request outstanding invoices as per statement not received, and to be entered in the relevant period Build up database of customers with their terms on payment Sending out debtor statements at month end after monthly receipts have been captured Following up on outstanding debtor payments, accounts to be put on hold if no money or commitments have been received Upkeep of a daily cashflow sheet Feedback during last week of month with debtors, as to when they will be paying Month-end balance sheet reconciliations Postings of journals Liaise with production on needs for raw material Monthly wages and salaries analysis EMP report before the 7th of each month Leave provision Monthly age analysis of debtors and creditors (to be discussed with CFO) A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or equivalent qualification with Mathematics A diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Proficiency in numerical skills and attention to detail are essential. Knowledge of accounting software such as Pastel, QuickBooks, SAP or Sage . Good understanding of accounting principles and practices. National Certificate: Bookkeeping (NQF Level 3) or FET Certificate: Bookkeeping (NQF Level 4) or National Diploma: Technical Financial Accounting (NQF Level 5) Job Type: Maternity Relief Pay: R15 000,00 per month
