Our Quick Service Restaurant client is seeking a Buyer to join their team based in Durban. Salary : Market-Related Death benefit Performance bonus KPI-driven Annual increase Requirements : Driver's Licence and own vehicle is a must. Matric Diploma Proficient knowledge of MS Suite and excel. 3-5 years of experience in a similar role. 2-4 years of experience within the QSR/ FMCG Industry. Must come from a corporate background. Must have extensive knowledge working with Perishable foods. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Working hours: 7 am – 4 pm OR 07h30am – 16h30pm Responsibilities : Procurement of Perishable Foods: Source and purchase perishable food items necessary for restaurant operations. Ensure all perishable goods meet quality standards and are delivered on time. Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best deals. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable delivery schedules and favorable terms. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock without overstocking. Implement and manage inventory control procedures to minimize waste and reduce costs. Cost Management: Manage the budget for procurement of goods. Track and report on cost savings and financial performance related to procurement activities. Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilize MS Excel and other MS Suite tools to analyse purchasing data. Generate reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and inventory levels. Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with the operations, finance, and supply chain teams to ensure procurement aligns with business needs. Coordinate with the kitchen and restaurant managers to understand their requirements and ensure timely delivery of goods. Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all purchased goods comply with industry standards and regulations. Conduct regular quality checks on products and suppliers. Market Research: Stay updated on market trends and changes in the industry to make informed purchasing decisions. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Logistics Coordination: Oversee the logistics of product delivery, including tracking shipments and resolving any issues that arise. Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other procurement-related documents. Handle administrative duties related to procurement, such as preparing purchase orders and contracts. Performance Monitoring: Set and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for procurement activities. Evaluate supplier performance and make recommendations for changes if necessary. Skills and Attributes Required: Strong negotiation and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Suite applications. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills. Knowledge of the QSR/FMCG industry and experience with perishable foods. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions under pressure.
