Buying Manager (Footwear Industry) - Expat - Johannesburg

Our client is looking for a Buying Manager with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the footwear industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing buying strategies that align with market trends and customer needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement buying strategies to ensure product selection aligns with market trends and customer preferences.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure the best prices and quality.
  • Manage inventory levels to optimize stock availability and minimize overstock situations.
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Collaborate with design and marketing teams to ensure product lines are cohesive and marketable.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while identifying and establishing new supplier connections.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with quality standards and delivery timelines.
  • Lead and mentor a team of junior buyers, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, forecasting buying needs based on sales projections.
  • Conduct regular market research to stay ahead of industry trends and competitor activities.
