Our client a manufacturer/retail/fmcg client in Milnerton Cape Town is looking for a well-experienced Category Manager. As a Category Manager / Category Specialist you will be overseeing the strategic planning, development, and execution of product categories within a company. You will be responsible for the strategic Category / Channel plan, Annual rollout plan, Turnover, and GP/ MVC performance of the Category. You will be accountable for the Global Category/channel Marketing Budget, Well-managed NPD, and Innovation process. Traveling to regions is Important.

Min Requirements
Degree in Marketing, Business administration, or a related field
5 - 7 years of category management experience within a manufacturing / FMCG / Retail / R&D and NPD environment
Ability to think on a Strategic level and to execute category channel plans
Experience in scoping and conducting quantitative and qualitative market studies
Be comfortable with analysis, and figures, for market data
Ability to creatively present market trends and research findings in written, graphical, and verbal formats
Awareness of key trends, customers, and competitors in DIY/Consumer and adjacent markets
Ability to identify sources of market intelligence from both internal and external network insights
Responsibilities
Category / Channel strategy, visit the regions/countries to stay up to date with market development
Visit trade shows
Category management monitors GP/MVC targets and defines corrective action plans when needed
Participate in pricing alignment within Global accounts, channels and markets
Ensure Brand and Packaging consistency within the Category
Product development Manage the NPD process, be involved in the R&D process validation for the category/channel projects
Together with Purchasing, R&D develops new concepts with external suppliers
Packaging / Layout design update the designs within the category, to ensure distinctiveness and competitive advantage
Trade support monitors RSP’s and defines corrective action plans when needed
To build and follow-up the Category strategy in all consumer channels (FMCG, DIY, Digital/Websites)
To define the Margin level and Retail Price positioning of the Category
To participate in the NPD roadmap in collaboration with R&D, other SU’s and regions/countries
Global product management, development, and maintenance within the Category for the Consumer channels
Design and re-design packaging layouts for Consumer products
Global Innovation roll-out management
Aligning best POS practices with Global Consumer market
Support new Market development
To ensure the Margin level and Retail Price positioning of the Category is aligned with company expectations
