Pest control officers identify pests and monitor and control threats and infestations according to environmental protection, public health, and food safety regulations and protocols. They identify the type and extent of pest invasion, often collecting samples for laboratory testing. They will then provide strategies for the eradication of pests, taking into consideration financial, social, and environmental aspects. Some are consulted in agricultural farming, around the identification and eradication of pest and vector breeding occurrences. Inspecting buildings and the surrounding property for signs of insects, rodents, and other pests. Determining the kind of treatment required to eliminate a particular type of pest. Advising customers on the kind of treatment required to eliminate identified pests. Creating barriers to prevent insects and rodents from re-entering. Filling out all necessary paperwork upon completion of each job. Overseeing the activities of sales and service technicians. Teaching pest control best practices and company policies. Evaluating, pricing, and scheduling jobs. Ensuring quality control. Performing pest control services when necessary. Select, recommend, and motivate appropriate pest control procedures. Apply and implement pest control procedures. Monitor, measure, and record the success of control procedures. 2-5 years' experience working as a pest controller NQF Level 4 - 5 certificate in pest control or related. Registration with the Department of Agriculture will be an added advantage Pest control officer must have a comprehensive knowledge of pest varieties and associated elimination techniques and an understanding of public health and safety regulations and procedures, along with: Good customer service skills Strong organization and keen attention to detail Physical stamina Good written and verbal communication ability Apply Now
