The Company is looking for a well experienced and qualified Customs Specialist to join its ranks in Walvis Bay as soon as possible. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail, enabling them to solve complex problems effectively. They should be capable of working independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating robust research abilities to find accurate and reliable information. Excellent communication skills are crucial for clear internal and external interactions, and a focus on providing exceptional customer support is essential. Job Summary : This role will be responsible for enhancing voluntary compliance by determining and advising correct procedures and requirements to be followed to prevent violations of customs laws and regulations relating to the import and export of goods. Key Performance Areas: Tariff Classification: Ensuring correct categorization of goods according to the Harmonized System (HS) or other applicable tariff schedules, based on detailed knowledge of product attributes and international customs codes. Compliance with Customs Regulations: Interpretation and strict adherence to all relevant customs rules, regulations, and legal requirements, with a focus on accurate classification of goods and determining applicable tariff rates. Tariff Application: Identifying and applying the appropriate tariffs, duties, and taxes for various products, considering trade agreements, origin, and other impacting factors. Bond Management: Producing accurate management reports that indicate exposure, track ageing, highlight concerns and challenges, and ensure the ongoing maintenance of a robust bond management system to support risk assessment and compliance. Risk Management: Identifying dormant entries in the ASYCUDA World system, managing road and temporary import bond risks, coordinating with relevant authorities to resolve outstanding dormant entries and bonds, and interpreting customs regulations, requirements, rules, and procedures to ensure compliance and risk mitigation. Compliance: Ensure compliance with ISO/SHEQ/FIA Procedures Training: Responsible for training employees in the customs regulations and procedures. Namibian Citizen Grade 12 or equivalent Valid Driver's license Computer literate: Microsoft Office Systems Exposure: Asycuda World BCom degree or National diploma in supply chain/ Business administration or international trade. Minimum 5 years' experience in the clearing and forwarding and administration with specific emphasis on goods classification. Training in customs & excise laws or have been a customs officer for a period longer than five years. Kindly note that no email or paper documents will be accepted.
