Reference: ITE005557-DAP-1Our client, a leading provider of Managed IT and outsourcing services, catering to clients across South Africa and abroad, is looking for an energetic Desktop Support Engineer to join their dynamic team in Cape Town. As a Desk Side Engineer, you will play a crucial role in providing telephonic and on-site application and infrastructure support to our esteemed clients. This position is based at an international client site, with occasional travel between our Cape Town Head Office and the Epping Distribution and Manufacturing plant. Experience & Other Requirements: Education: Matric plus relevant tertiary qualification; MCSE or other Microsoft Certification preferred. Experience: 2-4 years in a similar role, with proficiency in Microsoft technologies, WAN & LAN technologies, TCIP tools, and vendor & global IT partner engagement. Previous exposure to retail, manufacturing, or distribution is preferred. Valid driver’s license and own transportation required. Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, dynamic, and intuitive. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-culturally and collaborate with international teams. Attention to detail and meticulous. Ability to communicate technical jargon in layman’s terms. Logical and methodical approach with proven problem-solving capabilities. Keen to learn and expand skills. Working Conditions: Role involves moving between Epping and Cape Town CBD or other offices. Overtime may be required based on client deliverables, operating hours, or projects. High-pressure environment with a focus on communication skills, attention to detail, and solution-oriented thinking. Collaboration within a global IT team to provide support to clients in South Africa. Basic Job Responsibilities: Dedicated support engineer for Cape Town corporate head office, including executive (VIP) support. Backup support engineer for Epping manufacturing and distribution centre. Deploy and manage desktop and laptop hardware and software. Provide onsite Break/Fix and Deskside Support for Computing Hardware and Network Hardware. Respond promptly to tickets, investigate & provide temporary/permanent resolution. Set up conference facilities (video and teleconference) and provide technical support. Install and troubleshoot operating systems (Windows & Mac). Coordinate with vendors on software and hardware queries. Manage printer applications hosted on a local print server. Order, manage, and track mobile phones inventory. Work closely with local technical support leader for issue prioritization, scheduling, and escalation purposes. Report back to team leader and management on a weekly or daily basis as required.
