The incumbent will be responsible for maintenance and repairs of a fleet of trucks within a logistics company in Boksburg. The ideal candidate should have experience with Scania and Volvo. The candidate must be able to rebuild gearboxes and engines. Rebuilds off Diffs, Gearboxes and Engines is an essential skill. Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions. Preparing work plans after fully scoping out the issues. Perform inspections in accordance with the Manufactures requirements and specification of the Truck being service. Inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhausts. To carry out the servicing and mechanical / technical repairs on trucks whilst in the depot, which are schedule for the specific repairs. Identify spares requirements for vehicles. Maintain and create job cards for maintenance records. Communicate with service advisor, team members and also the operations department on service intervals and ensuring that the work is performed timeously and correctly as required by operations. Ensuring that handover and maintenance activities performed correctly Conducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown Test driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performance Maintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles Ensure that the team opperates in accordance with the companies standards Required to work shifts, overtime, standby and be available for callouts should the need arise, this includes working nights shifts when required and also weekends (including Sundays). Qualified Diesel mechanic with Trade Certificate through a recognised/accredited institution essential. Note that should you not be qaulified your application will be automaticly rejected. Valid driver's license – Code 14, will be advantageous. 5 years post trade test experience with at least 3 years being in a senior position. Knowledge of electrical, electronic systems and hydraulics, will be advantageous. Must have reliable transport and live within East Rand area or be willing to relocate to East Rand. Independent, self-motivate, proactive thinker with the ability to do own job planning. Sound written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in English and or Afrikaans will be preferable.
