A multi-disciplinary construction company based in the Western Cape is looking for a dynamic Estimator in the commerial division to join their team. Please ensure the MINIMUM requirements are met before applying. Main purpose of the position: Responsible for securing the planned workload for the company by tender and negotiation, prepare accurate detailed estimates and methodologies for tenders/negotiations being considered, including evaluating the scope of the project, conditions of contract, plant, infrastructure facilities and procurement. This includes managing and maintains historical estimates and data systems. Key Performance Areas: Tender Initiation Extensive knowledge of future work and available work in the civil sector. Thorough understanding of the conditions of the contract. Thorough understanding of the methodologies used in civil construction. Obtain and review tender documents, competitors and payment conditions. Process the Estimate / Negotiation Attend site inspection and produce site inspection reports. Verify conditions, quantities, and Bill descriptions. Initiate the tender enquiry process which includes procurement of prices for labour and plant. Obtain contract programme. Prepare the tender estimate. Prepare a risk schedule. Ensure that contract deliverables are completed and assembled for inclusion in the final estimate. Initiate and complete tender finalisation process. Submit the tender/estimate pack. Contract Execution Prepares new contract advice. Review the proposed contract documentation and amend where necessary. Assist with the signing of contract documentation. Tender handover. Regular liaison with operational staff regarding prices, rates of production, methodology etc. Maintaining an estimating / tendering/negotiation data base. Written communication skills. Legal Requirements No criminal record. Valid Driver's Licence. MINIMUM Requirements: Experience: 5 years' site experience in the construction industry. 5 years' experience in the estimating function in the construction industry. Technical Requirements: Strong knowledge of building, civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines. Knowledge of civil engineering and building construction productivities. Sound knowledge of standard contract documentation and specifications. Ability to review the tender documentation and identify potential risks and/or gains. Education: Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying Computer software: Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced) CCS (Estimating and Planning) – Advanced Negotiable based on experience.
