Introduction An agricultural commodity trading company in Pretoria East is looking for a detail-oriented, efficient Financial Controller to join their team. Job Purpose The Financial Controller oversees the day-to-day activities of the finance and back-office team and ensures the company's finance function is organised and efficient and financial and operational controls are effectively designed, implemented, and adhered to. Furthermore, assists the Financial Manager in processing, preparing, and reviewing accurate and up-to-date management accounts. Minimum qualifications (essential): B Com Accounting / Internal Audit degree (or equivalent) Minimum qualifications (desirable): Further qualification in Risk Management would be advantageous. Required experience (years): 2-4 years Required nature of experience: Experience managing a small team Experience within the Grain industry will be advantageous. Financial control and previous management reporting. Skills and knowledge: Pastel – SAGE Accounting Solid understanding of accounting and accounting software principles Computer literate with excellent MS Office skills, especially Excel. Other: Working hours: Monday to Friday, 07h30-16h30 Own transport Key Responsibilities Maintenance of financial ledgers and accounting processes Oversight responsibility of key reconciliations Exercising strong controls over credit limits and terms Exercising strong controls over payments and loading of new beneficiaries Exercising strong controls over the approval and onboarding of new customers and Suppliers and loading of approved data on the various operating / financial systems. Ownership of new application processes for both customers and suppliers. Maintenance and custodianship of all master data listed above. Ensure master data is captured and maintained consequently across all company systems i.e. trading system, logistical system, accounting system, and banking profile. Cash management and treasury duties. Ensuring that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained. Risk management Assisting and working closely with the Financial Manager in: Processing, preparing, and review of management accounts.
