The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of 4 to 6 African subsidiaries from the Mauritius Shared Services Center. This role will involve ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, adherence to financial policies and procedures, and providing strategic financial guidance to support business objectives across the region. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in financial management, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively across different cultures and jurisdictions. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for all African subsidiaries. Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local GAAPs where applicable. Coordinate with shared services and local finance teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process for the African subsidiaries. Develop and maintain financial models to forecast business performance and financial position. Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis. Internal Controls and Compliance: Implement and maintain robust internal control systems across African subsidiaries. Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and corporate policies. Conduct periodic audits and reviews to ensure adherence to financial procedures. Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow planning and ensure funds availability for operational needs. Optimize working capital and implement strategies to improve cash flow. Coordinate with banks and financial institutions for necessary funding. Taxation: Oversee tax planning and compliance for all African subsidiaries. Liaise with local tax authorities and external consultants to ensure timely and accurate tax filings. Manage tax audits and resolve any tax-related issues. Financial Analysis and Business Support: Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making. Collaborate with regional management teams to drive business performance and achieve financial targets. Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and stakeholders. Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor the finance teams in the African subsidiaries. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Ensure effective communication and collaboration between the Mauritius Shared Services Center and local finance teams. Risk Management: Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Monitor and manage foreign exchange exposure and other financial risks. Ensure appropriate insurance coverage for assets and operations. Systems and Processes: Enhance financial systems and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. Implement and leverage ERP systems for better financial management. Ensure seamless integration of financial data across the organization. Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA) is required. Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a senior financial management role overseeing multiple entities, preferably in Africa. Skills: Strong analytical skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and proficiency in financial software and ERP systems. Knowledge of IFRS and local African GAAPs.
