General Manager - Johannesburg

A leading player in the motor industry that specialises in selling luxury vehicles for the elite has an exciting opportunity for an experienced General Manager to join their team.

As the General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the dealership's operations, including sales, service, finance, and administration. Working closely with the executive team, you will develop and implement strategies to drive business growth, enhance customer satisfaction, and maximize profitability. Your leadership will be instrumental in achieving our operational objectives and maintaining our position as a market leader in the car dealership industry.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Leadership: Lead the sales team in achieving sales targets and objectives, developing sales strategies, and implementing effective sales processes to drive revenue growth.
  • Customer Experience: Ensure exceptional customer service at all touchpoints, maintaining high customer satisfaction scores and fostering long-term customer relationships.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory management processes, including procurement, stocking, pricing, and merchandising, to optimize inventory levels and turnover rates.
  • Finance Management: Manage dealership finances effectively, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control, to maximize profitability and ensure financial sustainability.
  • Staff Development: Recruit, train, and develop dealership staff, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for streamlining operational processes and implementing best practices to improve efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Marketing and Promotions: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement marketing strategies and promotional campaigns to drive traffic to the dealership and increase sales.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with industry regulations and dealership standards, maintaining high-quality standards in all aspects of dealership operations.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management: Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring timely delivery of products and services.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), providing regular reports to the executive team and implementing corrective actions as needed to achieve business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10 or more years experience within a simlar
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within the car dealership industry, with a track record of success in driving sales and operational excellence.
  • Strong understanding of automotive industry dynamics, including market trends, customer preferences, and competitive landscape.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve results.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute effective business strategies to achieve organizational goals.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers, staff, and stakeholders.
