Robert Walters South Africa As a direct report to the Chief Financial Officer, the Group Financial Controller will be responsible for maintaining excellent financial reporting and systems across finance operations at group-level. This will require exceptional technical and operational finance expertise in areas such as tax, treasury, technical accounting, finance operations, financial reporting, audit, systems and controls. Fostering a culture of empowerment, responsibility, and proactiveness is essential for the Group Financial Controller. They should have a proven track record of driving transformative and continuous improvements in a core finance function. Key qualifications and experience required for the Group Financial Controller: CA(SA) Big 4 training with large, listed, corporate clients (preferable) Must have Group-level experience Minimum 12 years' professional experience with at least 3 years in a senior finance role, operating at group-level within a substantial company or a multinational corporation Financial Services experience preferred, but candidates with commercial experience will also be considered Proven track record of enhancing tax and treasury operations with exceptional technical accounting skills Demonstrated strong leadership experience in a team management position Key duties of the Group Financial Controller: Oversee and coordinate accounting, financial and statutory reporting, tax, treasury, financial systems and controls Provide expert guidance to the CFO and the broader organisation on technical accounting matters, including new financial reporting standards and product launches Manage key external relationships with auditors, banking partners, debt providers and tax advisors Develop and implement an optimised strategy for group treasury and foreign exchange Take charge of all aspects of the company's tax compliance, spanning multiple jurisdictions and implement effective transfer pricing policies Ensure timely and accurate consolidation of monthly financial results, conducting comprehensive analysis of P&L variances, balance sheet and cash flow Spearhead continuous improvement and automation of finance systems, processes and controls, with a focus on month-end and year-end close, treasury operations and reconciliations Lead and inspire a team, including direct reports, while serving as a deputy for the CFO when required Key personal skills: Highly adaptable with experience in blue-chip and high-growth organisations Results-driven leader, capable of building high-performing teams Thrives in a fast-paced and ambitious company Proactive self-starter with a "no-nonsense attitude", quickly identifying problems and executing solutions Deep understanding of African context with a global mindset Ability to work under pressure, demonstrating strong commercial acumen If you are a motivated, determined and strong-minded finance professional, interested in a leadership role within a multinational organisation, we encourage you to get in touch for a further discussion.
