SAT was established to develop, manufacture and market cardiac-related medical devices that address the needs of up to 75 million rheumatic heart disease patients worldwide. Its concepts have evolved from research done at the University and the pioneering Chris Barnard Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Groote Schuur Hospital. Strait Access Technologies Holdings is looking for a highly competent, efficient, thorough, and hardworking junior design engineer. Along with strong technical skills, the position requires the candidate to demonstrate initiative, be able to work independently and have strong interpersonal skills and time management skills. This candidate will join a design team of 4, developing the SAT Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) Delivery System. See website link for more detail on the product of focus. Key Responsibilities Research, concept development, product design and development Able to work independently but also work as part of a team Manufacturing of device concepts Testing of device concepts Liaising with suppliers and 3rd parties for manufacturing of components (custom mechanical parts, tooling, stock parts, etc.) Set up test protocols and orderly documenting of all developments/experiments run Maintaining design history and technical file documentation, which includes test protocol writing, testing and test report writing Compliance with medical device regulatory requirements ● BSc.Eng or MSc.Eng in Mechanical/Mechatronic/Biomedical Engineering ● 0 - 1 years of design experience, preferably within the medical device field ● Proficient in 3-D CAD software (preferably Solidworks) ● Can work independently and within a team ● Good communication skills (verbal and written) Market-related.
