A Junior Financial Accountant role has just become available at the fastest growing, media and advertising organisation based in Sandton. Reporting directly to the Financial Manager this role offers outstanding career progression for a driven, proactive finance professional. Manage the full accounting function for the business, including debtors, creditors, petty cash, banking accounts, and monthly reporting Maintain the cash book and oversee daily bank reconciliations Manage creditors' function, including supplier payment and reconciling to supplier statements Oversee debtors' function, including debt collection and reconciling debtors' balances Provide monthly creditor and debtor age analysis Reconcile salary information from third-party salary administrators to bank account payments Assist with the reconciliation and preparation of VAT returns, including making payments Conduct daily sales reconciliations for all stores, reconciling weekends and public holiday sales on the next working day Perform monthly reconciliation of petty cash items at the stores Assist with asset/liability reconciliations and maintain the sub ledger for fixed assets to the general ledger Contribute to the preparation of monthly management accounts Minimum one year of working experience preferred Essential sound accounting knowledge Ideally, previous accounting experience is preferred Advantageous to have prior experience in the media and advertising Experience working on Workbook is highly advantageous Proven computer literacy, with essential skills in MS Excel, MS Word, and Microsoft Outlook. Strong command of English, both written and verbal Key Competencies: Demonstrated strong financial accounting skills Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Accuracy and strict attention to detail Proficiency in tax and balance sheet skills Proven people management and leadership skills, especially with individuals from different cultures and countries Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations and creatively solve problems Established negotiation skills Self-starter with initiative and a sense of responsibility for projects Proven ability to operate independently with significant latitude for independent judgment, discretion, and action Capability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks within strict time frames in a fast-paced environment High energy levels and tenacity with a strong work ethic Ability to build strong relationships with team members, company management, and clients "Hands on" approach to tasks Market Related
