Location: Atlantis Salary: R20,000 - R25,000 per month Company: Leading Plastic Manufacturing Company specializing in large moulds (tables, chairs, crates, etc.)We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Junior Millwright to join a team at a prominent plastic manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background with substantial electrical knowledge, focusing on maintaining and repairing large mould injection moulding machines. This role is perfect for a Trade Tested Millwright with experience in plastics, aiming to grow and develop in a dynamic and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities: Mechanical Maintenance (60%): Perform routine and preventative maintenance on large mould injection moulding machines and associated equipment. Diagnose mechanical issues and implement effective solutions to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency. Conduct mechanical repairs and overhauls on production machinery, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, and conveyors. Assist in the installation, setup, and commissioning of new machinery and equipment. Electrical Maintenance (40%): Conduct electrical troubleshooting and repairs on moulding machines, control panels, and related systems. Perform regular inspections and testing of electrical components to ensure optimal performance and safety. Assist in the programming, calibration, and maintenance of PLCs, sensors, and other automation systems. Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and regulations. Operational Support: Collaborate with the production team to minimize disruptions and enhance productivity. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and time spent. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize machinery performance and production processes. Provide technical support and training to junior staff members as needed. Qualifications: Education: Minimum N3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Trade Tested Millwright certification. Red seal Experience: Proven experience in a plastic manufacturing environment, particularly with large mould injection moulding machines. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair skills. Familiarity with PLCs and automation systems is advantageous. Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team. Proficiency with hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment. Personal Attributes: Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. A proactive approach to maintenance and a commitment to continuous improvement. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Requirements: Must have own transport. Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional overtime and standby duties.
